SVA Families & Students,
SVA will have synchronous remote-learning days this week: Tuesday, 1/18, through Friday, 01/21. We anticipate that we will be back on campus for in-person instruction on Monday, 01/24/22.
“Synchronous” remote learning means that students will be “in class” virtually/online through Google Meet links, which will be shared with students in advance. Teachers will actively teach lessons and work with students during this time. The virtual/online schedule will have synchronous classes in the morning, and some asynchronous independent work time in the afternoon. We are working to be mindful of how much time students are required to spend online during remote learning.
Please be aware that students are expected to show up to their online classes during synchronous remote learning, just like in-person learning on campus. Students who do not log into their classes online will be marked with an unexcused absence. Students who are ill and unable to log in will need to have a parent call the school to excuse them, just like in-person learning.
If a teacher is too sick to conduct their classes online, they will put student work and directions on Google Classroom for students to work on independently. Students should check Google Classroom at the start of their scheduled class time.
The rationale for these four remote-learning days is the health and safety of our students and staff. At present, the Omicron and other COVID-19 variants are intensifying, and we have a large number of staff out sick. Additionally, we do not have substitute coverage for these days. This makes it very difficult for us to find coverage for classes. From Tuesday (1/18) to Sunday (1/23) allows SVA to quarantine for six days. New NMPED quarantine is now 5 days as opposed to 10 days. We hope these 6 days will prevent spreading of the virus among staff and students.
The NMPED has suggested that going remote periodically will help prevent the spread and reduce “close contact” transmission of the virus. Our goal is to reduce COVID-19/Omicron variant exposure. It is imperative that we collectively continue to reinforce COVID-19 protocols while on campus (masking, distancing and handwashing), and ask for your help in reinforcing these safety precautions both at school and at home/in public.
We will have “Grab and Go” breakfast and lunch distributed at SVA for these days on Tuesday, 1/18 and Thursday, 1/20, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The Technology Office will be open during regular school hours (8:30am-4:00pm) for any Chromebook exchanges or hotspot needs. Please check in at the front desk. If a student has difficulty logging into their classes, they should contact that teacher and/or their advisor. Students having technology issues can contact Mr. Josh Rael by calling SVA (505-452-3132, ext. 61033).

All tutoring, athletic games, or other after-school activities will be canceled for these four days.
NWEA / MAP testing will be postponed until next week when we return to campus.

SVA tendrá clases online toda esta semana: del martes 18 de enero al viernes 21 de enero. Anticipamos que volveremos al campus para recibir instrucción en persona el lunes 24/01/22.
El aprendizaje online significa que los estudiantes estarán "en clase" virtualmente/en línea a través de los enlaces de Google Meet en sus computadoras, que se compartirán con los estudiantes. Los maestros enseñarán activamente lecciones y trabajarán con los estudiantes durante este tiempo. El horario online tendrá clases sincrónicas por la mañana y algo de tiempo de trabajo independiente por la tarde. Estamos trabajando para tener en cuenta cuánto tiempo deben pasar los estudiantes en línea durante el aprendizaje remoto.
Tenga en cuenta que se espera que los estudiantes se presenten a sus clases online durante el aprendizaje, igual que el aprendizaje en persona en el campus. Los estudiantes que no inicien sesión en sus clases online serán marcados con una ausencia injustificada. Si un maestro está demasiado enfermo para impartir sus clases en línea, colocará el trabajo y las instrucciones de los estudiantes en Google Classroom para que los estudiantes trabajen de forma independiente. Los estudiantes deben consultar Google Classroom al comienzo de su horario de clase.
El motivo de estos cuatro días de aprendizaje remoto es la salud y la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal. El Omicron y otras variantes de COVID-19 se están intensificando y tenemos una gran cantidad de maestros enfermos. Además, no tenemos maestros sustitutos para estos días. Esto hace que sea muy difícil para nosotros tener cobertura para las clases. Del martes (18/1) al domingo (23/1) permite que SVA entre en cuarentena durante seis días. La nueva cuarentena de NMPED ahora es de 5 días en lugar de 10 días. Esperamos que estos 6 días eviten la propagación del virus entre el personal y los estudiantes.
El NMPED ha sugerido que tomar clases online periódicamente ayudará a prevenir la propagación y reducir la transmisión del virus por “contacto cercano”. Nuestro objetivo es reducir la exposición a la variante COVID-19/Omicron. Es imperativo que sigamos reforzando colectivamente los protocolos de COVID-19 mientras estamos en el campus (mascarilla, distanciamiento social y lavado de manos), y pidamos su ayuda para reforzar estas precauciones de seguridad tanto en la escuela como en el hogar y en público.
Tendremos desayuno y almuerzo "Grab and Go" distribuidos en SVA para estos días el martes, 1/18 y jueves, 1/20, de 8:00 a. m. a 1:00 p. m.
La Oficina de Tecnología estará abierta durante el horario escolar regular (8:30 a. m. a 4:00 p. m.) para cualquier cambio de Chromebook o necesidad de un hotspot de internet. Por favor regístrese en la recepción. Si un estudiante tiene dificultades para iniciar sesión en sus clases, debe comunicarse con ese maestro y/o su asesor.
