Ms. Dumars is excited and honored to join the SVA Strategic Team in 2020. After a career as a professional wildlife biologist in central California, Ms. Dumars taught science in California for 3 years and at SVA for 5 years. She is the proud mother of two teenagers and is teaching herself to draw and paint. B.S. Environmental Science UC Davis (1996) , MA Teaching Secondary Science University of Southern California (2009), National Board Certified Teacher (2019).
Middle School Head Teacher
Jacque Mangham joins South Valley Academy as our new Middle School Head Teacher this year. She was born and raised in Albuquerque and currently lives in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She is married and has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
Mrs. Mangham has 13 years of teaching experience and 14 years of experience as a school administrator. She holds master’s degrees in Administration and K-8 Education with a focus on multicultural education.
Special Education & Inclusion Head Teacher
Josephine Caproni has been at South Valley Academy for eight years leading the Special Education & Inclusion team and working with our dedicated general educators to meet the needs of our diverse student population. Inclusion is a social justice issue and Ms. Caproni appreciates that SVA remains committed to ensuring that all students feel a sense of belonging at our school. Before coming to SVA, Ms. Caproni spent almost a decade teaching and leading at other excellent schools in New York and New Orleans. She holds dual licensure in special and general education, with endorsements in Reading and TESOL, and received her advanced degree and administrative licensure with a fellowship in Leadership for Educational Change. In her personal life, Ms. Caproni enjoys her backyard in the South Valley and aerial acrobatics.
Mr. Rael has been South Valley Academy's Technology Director for the last 14 years and looks forward to joining the new Strategic Team this year. He is an Albuquerque native and a South Valley Academy alumnus from our school’s first graduating class of 2004. While primarily responsible for our constantly evolving technology and data systems, Mr. Rael also designs many of the public-facing forms, letterhead, signage and graphics used by the school. When he’s not administering computers and school data, you will probably find him analyzing hockey and soccer stats, gardening, cooking, or in the stands at a New Mexico United match.
