Ms. Andi Januskiewicz (Ms J) is an Albuquerque native, and has worked in education for over 16 years. She has taught at Montezuma ES, Truman MS, and the International School at Mesa del Sol charter here in Albuquerque. She also spent 8 years working in international schools abroad, including 2 years in New Delhi, India at the American Embassy School; 4 years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at Mont’Kiara International School; and 2 years as the Director of Learning at Colegio Americano de Torreón in Mexico. She has also coached high school speech and debate (forensics) teams.

Ms J worked as the Head of the Social Studies Department, and completed her administrative internship there, which provided her with a number of opportunities to work on issues such as child-safety policies, scheduling, WASC accreditation, handbook revision, analysis of teacher-induction practices, and press-releases. She was also the Director of the middle and high school Model United Nations (MUN) clubs and annual THIMUN-affiliated Malaysia-MUN (MYMUN) conference. This experience afforded Ms J the opportunity to run a highly-successful conference attended by 20+ international schools in SE Asia; a year-long planning event that involved working closely with student leadership and school personnel at all levels.

As the Director of Learning at the Colegio Americano de Torreón, Ms J continued gaining experience in relationship-building, student-centered decision-making, planning professional development, curriculum review and design, assessment, and grading practices - which are areas of education she is highly committed to - as well as data-collection and analysis, the development and implementation of programs, classroom observations, NWEA and AP test-coordination, and working with long-term strategic planning.

Ms J is excited to return to South Valley Academy this year as Director of Teaching and Learning. SVA’s students, teachers, and families have worked hard to overcome the challenges of the past year and a half wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic, and she is looking forward to meeting more of the community in person, and utilizing what we’ve learned about educating our youth in a post-pandemic world.

Ms J values life-long learning and holds a B.A. in Theatre, a M.A. in Elementary (K-8) Education, and a M.Ed. in preK-12 School Administration and Supervision. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dogs and cats, SCUBA-diving, traveling, being outdoors, and reading. Ms J also loves working with and volunteering for animal rescue groups whenever possible.
