COVID-19 Updates

South Valley Academy families, we need your help to remain open during the pandemic! As omicron cases continue to rise, our priority continues to be maintaining a safe on-campus environment for our staff, students, and visitors.

Covid 19 vaccine vialWe strongly encourage our families to schedule an appointment for a free COVID-19 vaccine or booster. Vaccines are now available for those aged 5 and up. Schedule an appointment at vaccinenm.org or by calling 1-855-600-3453 between 8 AM and 5 PM.
DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO SCHOOL if you or any member(s) of your household have tested positive, are awaiting test results, or are currently experiencing any of the following symptoms of COVID-19.

Contact your student's Advisor or our main office at 505-452-3132 to notify the school as soon as you are aware of a potential COVID-19 situation in your household. We will use the following guidelines for quarantine duration and recommendations for testing before the student may return to in-person learning.
If your student has a lab-confirmed positive case of COVID-19, please report it to the school using this form.

SVA will use the NMPED COVID-19 Response Toolkit (January 11, 2022 revision) as our primary guide for safe operation during the pandemic. If you or members of your family have been exposed to, are experiencing symptoms of, or have tested positive for COVID-19, the decision trees below will assist with necessary next steps.
COVID-19 Quarantine Decision Tree
Definition of Close Contact: Someone who over a 24-hour period, has a cumulative exposure of fifteen minutes or longer within six feet of a confirmed COVID-19 case with or without a face covering.
Exception: In the pre-K - 12 setting (including transportation), the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) where
  • both students were engaged in consistent and correct use of well-fitting face masks; and
  • other K-12 school prevention strategies (such as universal and correct mask use, physical distancing, increased ventilation) were in place in the K-12 school setting.
This exception does not apply to teachers, staff, or other adults in the pre-K - 12 setting.

Quarantine & Isolation Decision Tree

A period of quarantine and isolation may be required before your student is allowed to return to school. The following decision tree will be used to assign duration.
