Spanish Department
Staff: Carli Maldonado

South Valley Academy offers two levels of Spanish as part of the daily schedule and an opportunity to earn college credit with the AP Exam.

Spanish I

This is an introductory class for those who are just beginning to learn Spanish. This class is for students who have had little or no formal study of Spanish. Students learn the alphabet, basic vocabulary, verb conjugations, and basic grammar. By the end of this course students should be able to have simple conversations in Spanish and write paragraphs in Spanish.

Spanish AP (Advanced Placement) Exam

The AP Spanish Language exam is comparable to an advanced level college Spanish language course. The exam includes the four skills:  writing, reading, listening, and speaking.  Students are given the opportunity to take the test at the end of the year and receive college credit.  The exam is scored with a 1-5.  If students receive a 3 or higher, they may receive college credit.
