The most personal and personalized component of the educational program is the advisory.  Each student will be matched with an adult at the school who will serve as their advocate, mentor, “coach” and confidante.  Advisors will serve as the primary connection between home and school and monitor the overall academic and personal progress of their advisees.  Each advisory group will have approximately 10-12 students per adult.

The advisory will serve as an attendance monitoring mechanism by providing a regular place for students to sign in every morning.  Advisory also provides a support for students both personally and academically throughout the year.  Advisors will intervene promptly and effectively when students are absent and/or show signs of difficulty.  This intervention may include speaking with parents on the phone, scheduling tutorials, and arranging conferences with student-services staff.  The group will meet at least four days a week to discuss issues of common concern.
